Standards Coordinating Body (SCB) Overview

The Standards Coordinating Body for Regenerative Medicine (SCB) connects the regenerative medicine community to the standards development process. As an unbiased non-profit organization [501( c)3], SCB is uniquely positioned to ensure that the stakeholders from academia, government, and industry have a say in the standards that will impact them as the technologies, business and practice of regenerative medicine grow. With buy-in from a range of stakeholder organizations from across the regenerative medicine community, SCB continues to pursue its mission to coordinate the accelerated advancement and improved awareness of standards and best practices that address the rapidly evolving needs of the global regenerative medicine industry.

Job Summary

The Scientific Program Manager will be responsible for coordinating and supporting a variety of SCB projects and activities, contributing to SCB’s management of programs, and carrying out important operational duties.

A collaborative partnership between the Scientific Program Manager and the SCB Officers, Board, and committee leadership will be instrumental to success in this position and managed programs. Reporting to the SCB Senior Scientific Program Manager, the Scientific Program Manager manages the performance of SCB projects and activities that identify potential standards, help coordinate the development of standards, and support the awareness and implementation of standards for regenerative medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and facilitate subject matter experts in the development of standards for regenerative medicine (e.g., characterization of fiber-based constructs)

  • Coordinate and support relevant meetings/workshop with federal agencies, industry, and other stakeholders

  • Plan and coordinate activities of the SCB sectors – cell therapy, tissue engineering, gene therapy, and cell-based drug discovery – and steering committees

  • Support ASTM F04 and other standard development organizations’ activities

  • Develop agendas, facilitate working group teleconferences, draft reports, and prepare deliverables for review and feedback

  • Develop content and supporting material for SCB digital media, sector communications, proposals, grant or contract deliverables, educational webinars, and meeting outputs

  • Liaise and coordinate activities with SCB’s key stakeholders

  • Liaise and coordinate activities with the leadership within the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)

  • Build positive relations with the internal team and external stakeholders

  • Participate in conferences or other events to promote standards development and SCB

  • Support and contribute to SCB’s strategy, growth, and program development

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in life sciences or biomedical sciences from an accredited institution; PhD preferred

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to plan and manage projects with multiple stakeholders

  • The ability to work on and track multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong internal or external meeting facilitation skills

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills

  • Strong work ethic, intensive drive, and initiative for quality

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and collaborative management style

  • Ability to challenge and debate issues of importance to SCB

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both scientific and non-scientific individuals

  • Must be comfortable working in a fluid environment, be highly motivated, and able to contribute collaboratively right away

  • Must share passion and commitment to the mission of SCB
